Taxonomy
Manicina willoughbiensis was named by Vaughan (1919). Its type locality is Willoughby Bay, which is in a Chattian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Antigua Formation of Antigua and Barbuda.

It was recombined as Colpophyllia willoughbiensis by Frost and Langenheim (1974), López-Pérez (2005).
