Pantolyta was named by Forster (1856). It is extant.

It was assigned to Diapriidae by Carpenter (1992); to Belytinae by Maneval (1938), Buhl (1999), Perrichot and Nel (2008); and to Belytinae by Ashmead (1893), Brazidec and Vilhelmsen (2022).
