Taxonomy
Pteroluter othnius was named by Saul (1973). Its type specimen is UCLA 47374, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is LACMIP loc. 10753, Little Cow Creek, Redding area, which is in a Turonian coastal sandstone in the Redding Formation of California.
