Taxonomy
Meekia (Meekia) peleia was named by Saul and Popenoe (1962). Its type specimen is CAS 12370, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CAS locality 31334, Bolsa Point, which is in a Campanian transition zone/lower shoreface sandstone in the Pigeon Point Formation of California.
