Taxonomy

Astrea websteri was named by Bowerbank (1840).

It was recombined as Litharaea websteri by Milne-Edwards and Haime (1850); it was recombined as Goniopora websteri by Kuzmicheva (1975).

Synonyms

Litharaea epithecata was named by Duncan (1880). Its type locality is Laki Range, Sind, Pakistan, which is in a Danian marine horizon in Pakistan.

It was recombined as Goniopora epithecata by Felix (1914); it was synonymized subjectively with Goniopora websteri by Baron-Szabo (2008).
Litharaea subepithecata was named by Oppenheim (1912).

It was recombined as Litharaeopsis subepithecata by Drobne et al. (1988); it was synonymized subjectively with Goniopora websteri by Baron-Szabo (2008).
