Parapithecus fraasi
Taxonomy
Parapithecus fraasi was named by Schlosser (1911) [type locality unknown]. Its type specimen is SNM 12639a, a mandible (partially preserved mandible only lacking the right P2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Stuttgart Fayum collection, which is in a Rupelian terrestrial horizon in the Jebel Qatrani Formation of Egypt.
It was synonymized subjectively with Apidium phiomense by Gingerich (1978).
