Taxonomy
Cardium (Trigoniocardia) samanicum was named by Olsson (1928). Its type specimen is PRI 3586, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Casa Saman [Saman Fm], which is in an Eocene coastal sandstone/conglomerate in the Saman Formation of Peru.
It was recombined as Schedocardia gatunensis samanica by Woodring (1982); it was recombined as Trigoniocardia (Trigoniocardia) samanicum by Hendy et al. (2008).
