Galloromma was named by Schlüter (1978). It is the type genus of Gallorommatidae.
It was assigned to Mymaromminae by Schlüter (1978); to Mymares by Carpenter (1992); and to Gallorommatidae by Gibson et al. (2007), Ortega-Blanco et al. (2011), Engel (2015).
