Taxonomy

Electrapis was named by Cockerell (1908). It is the type genus of Electrapini, Electrapina.

It was assigned to Bombidae by Cockerell (1908); to Apini by Zeuner and Manning (1976); to Electrapini by Engel (2001) and Wappler (2003); and to Electrapina by Engel (2021).
