Taxonomy
Miscellosmilia famosa was named by Eliasova (1976). Its type specimen is Holotype HF 326 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Stramberk reef, Czechia, which is in a Tithonian reef, buildup or bioherm reef rocks in the Stramberk Limestone Formation of Czechia. It is the type species of Miscellosmilia.
It was recombined as Axosmilia famosa by Kiessling (2014).
