Taxonomy
Monoaulastrea rawi was named by Löser et al. (2009). Its type locality is Copper, Benbow Inlier, which is in a Hauterivian shallow subtidal limestone in the Devils Racecourse Formation of Jamaica.

It was recombined as Thecidiosmilia rawi by Baron-Szabo (2009).
