Taxonomy
Stylophyllopsis gracilis was named by Stanley (1994). Its type specimen is AMNH 43527 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is AMNH1061, Cerro de Pasco, which is in a Norian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Chambara Formation of Peru.
