Pierolapithecus catalaunicus
Taxonomy
Pierolapithecus catalaunicus was named by Moyà-Solà et al. (2004). Its type specimen is IPS-21350, a partial skeleton (partial skeleton with partial skull but no mandibles), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Barranc de Can Vila, which is in a MN 7 + 8 terrestrial horizon in Spain. It is the type species of Pierolapithecus.
