Stegomastodon aftoniae
Taxonomy
Stegomastodon aftoniae was named by Osborn (1924). Its type specimen is Univ. Iowa Coll. 213, a tooth (third right superior molar), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Akron, which is in a Pleistocene terrestrial horizon in Iowa.
