Taxonomy
Staurosphaera trispinosa was named by Kozur and Mostler (1979). Its type locality is Göstling, which is in a Julian marine limestone in the Goestling Formation of Austria.

It was recombined as Staurolonche trispinosa by Feng et al. (2001).
