Taxonomy
Ligiscus smithi was named by Adrain et al. (1995). Its type specimen is USNM 476680 (cranidium and thoracic segment) and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Taylor Mountains, which is in a Llandovery marine limestone in Alaska.
