Pseudomera arachnopyge was named by Fortey and Droser (1996) [Paratypes: incomplete dorsal exoskeletons, USNM 481388, 481399; cranidia, USNM 481383-4; pygidia, USNM 481386-7]. Its type specimen is USNM 481388, a pygidium, and it is a 3D body fossil.
