Taxonomy
Georissites negev was named by Ponomarenko (2008). Its type specimen is PIN 5068/7, an elytra, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Gerofit (PIN collection 5068), which is in a Turonian lagoonal shale in the Ora Formation of Israel. It is the type species of Georissites.
