Taxonomy
Plachutella exculpta was named by Zhang (1997). Its type specimen is NIGP 126782, a hindwing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Tuzigou, Badaowan Fm, Karamay, which is in a Hettangian/Sinemurian fluvial sandstone in the Badaowan Formation of China.
