Taxonomy
Palaeontinodes separatus was named by Wang and Zhang (2007). Its type specimen is NIGP NND04135, an exoskeleton (Complete body), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Daohugou (NIGP 2004 collection), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian lacustrine - large shale in the Daohugou Formation of China.
