Taxonomy
Heteromacoma was named by Habe (1952) [Sepkoski's age data: T Ol-u R Sepkoski's reference number: 1112]. It is extant.

It was reranked as Macoma (Heteromacoma) by Coan et al. (2000).

It was assigned to Tellinidae by Addicott (1973); to Macoma by Coan et al. (2000); and to Veneroida by Sepkoski (2002).
