Lahillia was named by Cossmann (1899) [Sepkoski's age data: K Camp-u K Maes Sepkoski's reference number: 991,1066].

It was assigned to Lahilliidae by Frassinetti and Covacevich (1999); to Veneroida by Sepkoski (2002); to Lahillidae by Finlay and Marwick (1937), Chiesa et al. (1995), Stilwell et al. (2004); and to Lahilliinae by Schneider (1995), Bouchet et al. (2010).
