Myopophlebiidae was named by Bode (1953). It is not extant. Its type is Myopophlebia.

It was synonymized subjectively with Liassogomphidae by Carpenter (1992).

It was assigned to Odonata by Bode (1953); and to Heterophlebioidea by Nel et al. (1993).
