Taxonomy
Cymatophlebia was named by Deichmüller (1886). Its type is Libellula longialata. It is the type genus of Cymatophlebiidae, Cymatophlebiina.
It was synonymized subjectively with Libellulium by Cowley (1934), Carpenter (1992).
It was assigned to Cymatophlebiina by Handlirsch (1906); to Gomphidae by Ponomarenko (1985); and to Cymatophlebiinae by Cockerell (1924), Bechly et al. (2001), Bechly (2001), Zheng et al. (2018), Santos et al. (2022), Fan et al. (2023).
It was synonymized subjectively with Libellulium by Cowley (1934), Carpenter (1992).
