Taxonomy
Hydrophilus fraternus was named by Von Heyden (1859). Its type specimen is Lost?, an elytra, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Rott (Von Dechen Bonn coll.), which is in a MP 30 lacustrine - large lignite in Germany.
It was recombined as Hydrochara fraterninus by Ponomarenko and Kirejtshuk (2005); it was recombined as Hydrobiomorpha fraterna by Fikáček et al. (2010).
