Latocupes fortis

Taxonomy
Latocupes fortis was named by Ren and Tan (2006). Its type specimen is CNU-C-LB2005012, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression preserving soft parts. Its type locality is Huangbanjigou, Chaomidian Village, CNU 2005 collection, which is in a Barremian lacustrine - large mudstone in the Yixian Formation of China. It is the type species of Latocupes.

Tan 2006Latocupes fortis gen. andsp. nov. differs from the other new species described below in mandibles with four teeth in horizonal cutting surface, elytral cells with six black-maculate rounded its margin, first visible abdomen ventrite nearly as long as the last one and larger size.
