Taxonomy
Nelltia was named by Stephenson (1953) [Sepkoski's age data: K Apti K Maes Sepkoski's reference number: 914,1066]. It is not extant. Its type is Nelltia stenzeli.

It was assigned to Mactridae by Saul (1973); to Tellinidae by Cox et al. (1969), Rehder (1969), Vokes (1980); and to Veneroida by Sepkoski (2002).
