Taxonomy
Phryganidium balticum was named by Geinitz (1880). It is an impression. Its type locality is Dobbertin, Mecklenburg (Greifswald collection), which is in a Toarcian offshore claystone in Germany.
It was recombined as Fulgoridium balticum by Handlirsch (1906), Ansorge (2003) and Szwedo et al. (2004).
