Tellidora was named by Morch (1856) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-u-u R Sepkoski's reference number: 1112]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Veneroida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Tellininae by Woodring (1982) and Rosenberg (2005).
