Taxonomy

Hiatella was named by Daudin (1801) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-l R Sepkoski's reference number: 899]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Myoida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Hiatellidae by Vokes (1980), Freneix et al. (1988), Gordillo (1991), Lamprell and Healy (1998), Wienrich (1999), Bouchet et al. (2010).

It was synonymized subjectively with Hiatella by Vokes (1980).

It was assigned to Saxicavidae by Glenn (1904), Bouchet et al. (2010).
