Lebia was named by Latreille (1802). It is extant. It is the type genus of Lebiotae, Lebiina.
It was assigned to Crepitantes by Latreille (1802); to Carabiques by Dejean (1821); to Lebiae by LeConte (1861); to Carabidae by Cockerell (1921) and Cockerell (1936); and to Lebiina by Bouchard et al. (2011).
