Taxonomy
Triopus was named by Barrande (1872) [Sepkoski's age data: O Cara-l]. It is not extant. Its type is Triopus draboviensis.

It was assigned to Aglaspidida by Chlupac (1965); to Merostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Cheloniellida by Dunlop and Selden (1998), van Roy (2006), Ortega-Hernández et al. (2010), Lerosey-Aubril et al. (2017), Van Roy et al. (2022).
