Taxonomy
Brownimecia was named by Grimaldi et al. (1997). Its type is Brownimecia clavata. It is the type genus of Brownimeciinae, Brownimeciini.
It was assigned to Brownimeciini by Barden (2017); and to Brownimeciinae by Bolton (2003), Engel and Grimaldi (2005), Bolton (2012), Boudinot et al. (2020) and Sosiak et al. (2024).
