Necrophasma was named by Martynov (1925). It is not extant. Its type is Necrophasma shabarovi. It is the type genus of Necrophasmidae.

It was assigned to Aerophasmidae by Sharov (1968); and to Necrophasmidae by Martynov (1925), Aristov (2018).
