Taxonomy
Tanychora petiolata was named by Townes (1973). Its type specimen is PIN 292/8, an exoskeleton (complete insect), and it is an impression. Its type locality is Zaza (PIN collection 292), which is in an Aptian lacustrine - large marl/siltstone in the Zaza Formation of the Russian Federation.
