Taxonomy
Plecia undans was named by Zeuner (1941). Its type specimen is BMNH In 37274, a wing, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Ardtun Head, Isle of Mull, which is in a Thanetian lacustrine claystone/sandstone in the interbasaltic plant-beds Formation of the United Kingdom.
