Ceraphronoidea was named by Haliday (1833). It is extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Stephanoidea by Rasnitsyn and Brothers (2009).

It was assigned to Vespoides by Heraty et al. (2011); and to Apocrita by Rasnitsyn (1975) and Sharkey et al. (2012).
