Taxonomy
Thamnasterites astraeoides was named by Roniewicz (2011). It is not extant. Its type locality is Feisterscharte, which is in a Lacian reef, buildup or bioherm bafflestone/floatstone in the Dachstein Formation of Austria. It is the type species of Thamnasterites.
