Taxonomy

Acidaspis was named by Murchison (1839). It is the type genus of Acidaspidinae.

It was assigned to Acidaspidae by Warburg (1925); to Odontopleurinae by Bruton (1967), Owen (1981); to Acidaspidinae by Ramsköld and Chatterton (1991); to Odontopleurida by Sepkoski (2002); to Odontopleuridae by Whittington (1956), Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Trilobita by Sumrall and Schumacher (2002).
