Cnemidopyge was named by Whittard (1955) [Sepkoski's age data: O Aren-l O Llde-u Sepkoski's reference number: 378,726]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Raphiophoridae by Harrington et al. (1959); to Raphiophorinae by Fortey (1975); and to Asaphida by Sepkoski (2002).
