Tapholyda caplani

Taxonomy
Cephaleia caplani was named by Cockerell (1933). Its type specimen is UCM 18623, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Creede (UCM collection), which is in an Oligocene crater lake shale in the Creede Formation of Colorado. It is the type species of Tapholyda.

It was recombined as Acantholyda caplani by Zhelochovtzev and Rasnitsyn (1972); it was recombined as Tapholyda caplani by Rasnitsyn (1983), Rasnitsyn (1983), Taeger et al. (2010), Archibald and Rasnitsyn (2015), Jouault et al. (2022).
