Richardsonella was named by Raymond (1924) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Fran-u Cm Trep Sepkoski's reference number: 16,484].

It was assigned to Remopleurididae by Robison and Pantoja-Alor (1968), Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Asaphida by Sepkoski (2002).
