Taxonomy
Vitisminae was named by Vršanský and Ansorge (2001). It is not extant. Its type is Vitisma.

It was reranked as the family Vitismidae by Bechly (2007), Kirejtshuk et al. (2014); it was synonymized subjectively with Umenocoleidae by Podstrelená and Sendi (2018).

It was assigned to Polyphagidae by Vršanský and Ansorge (2001); to Umenocoleoidea by Bechly (2007); to Dictyoptera by Kirejtshuk et al. (2014); to Holocompsidae by Vršanský (2003), Nel et al. (2014), Luo et al. (2020); and to Umenocoleidae by Kováčová (2022), Szabó et al. (2024).
