Bagongshania was named by Lin (1983) [in Qiu et al.; Sepkoski's age data: Cm u Sepkoski's reference number: ZR83]. It is not extant. Its type is Bagongshania huainanensis.
It was assigned to Ptychopariida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Crepicephalidae by Zhou and Zhen (2008).
