Vietocycla was named by Shcherbakov (1988). Its type is Vietocycla peregrina. It is the type genus of Vietocyclinae.
It was assigned to Hylicellidae by Hamilton (1992); and to Vietocyclinae by Shcherbakov (1988), Fu and Huang (2019), Shcherbakov (2020).
