Taxonomy

Dysmorphoptila was named by Handlirsch (1906). It is not extant. Its type is Belostomum liasinum. It is the type genus of Dysmorphoptilidae, Dysmorphoptiloidea, Dysmorphoptilinae.

It was assigned to Dysmorphoptilidae by Handlirsch (1906), Evans (1956), Shcherbakov (1984), Shcherbakov (1988), Hamilton (1992); and to Dysmorphoptilinae by Martins-Neto and Gallego (2006), Szwedo and Huang (2019), Fu et al. (2021).
