Taxonomy
Penthetria whipsawensis was named by Rice (1959). Its type specimen is GSC 14416, a wing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Whipsaw Creek (Nine Mile Creek), which is in a Ypresian lacustrine mudstone in the Allenby Formation of Canada.
