Taxonomy
Penthetria pulchra was named by Handlirsch (1910). Its type specimen is GSC 7263, a wing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Right Branch Tulameen river, 1.5 miles above Princeton, which is in a Ypresian lacustrine horizon in the Allenby Formation of Canada.
It was recombined as Plecia pulchra by Rice (1959).
