Taxonomy
Reduvius was named by Fabricius (1775). It is extant. It is the type genus of Reduviidae, Reduviinae, Reduviini.
It was assigned to Hemiptera by Latreille (1796); to Cimicides by Latreille (1802); to Reduviinae by Scudder (1878), Hwang and Weirauch (2012), Ghahari et al. (2013); and to Reduviini by Masonick et al. (2024).
