Miaopopsis was named by Lu (1965) [Sepkoski's age data: O Cara-l O Ashg-l Sepkoski's reference number: 862]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Raphiophorinae by Fortey (1975); to Ptychopariida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Raphiophoridae by Jell and Adrain (2002).
